Assyrian Chaldean Syriac Student Movement

“Assyrian Chaldean Syriac”

We acknowledge that over the many centuries, occurrences of Diaspora, exodus, and religious divisions have resulted in the adoption of new labels and names to identify the indigenous and original Semitic based Assyrian Nation. Today, Assyrian, Chaldean, and Syriac are the primary labels that have sprouted from such digressions. In the case for unity, it is intrinsic to our people both in the homeland and in the Diaspora to co-exist under a banner of compromise and harmony in order to complete the mission of our Nation’s autonomy and worldwide recognition. The name of Assyrian Chaldean Syriac encompasses this quest for unity, harmony, and survival.

The best term to brand unified and dedicated active students is movement. Whereas union simply just describes a unified group; movement illustrates unity, direction, activity, and progress. Integrating movement within the title truly represents our primal mission and dedication to not only a unified group, but one that is active and accomplishing ventures solely to benefit our base—the Assyrian Chaldean Syriac nation.

The State of Illinois contains a respectable number of Assyrian, Chaldean, and Syriac (“Assyrian Chaldean Syriac”) students and youth whom are not currently unified or organized under a well supported central union. And, many times such students fail to have their concerns voiced on campus and in our community or tend to be under-represented in school admissions, such as the Latino, African American, and Native American students have been. Furthermore, concerning cultural affairs–theoretically the primary intention of such a Movement is to unify and strengthen the bonds and togetherness of the Assyrian Chaldean Syriac students and youth statewide. The creation of this Movement comes at a time of immense tribulations affecting our dispersing Assyrian Chaldean Syriac population. To create a haven where Assyrian Chaldean Syriac students and youth can be unified, strong, and nationalistic is planting the seeds of hope where our community can be assured that our future is not lost but prevailing and active in our peoples’ welfare. A strong Assyrian Chaldean Syriac Student Movement will also have constructive effects upon our younger generation. Increasing our community’s college attendance and completion is a crucial priority of this Movement. The success and endurance of our community is prominently relative to the level of our education received. This Movement will also serve as an aggressive base to educate our local community and surrounding areas of Assyrian Chaldean Syriac culture. Via cultural events and other creative functions, the outside population will be more aware, open minded, and respectful towards our customs and practices. Therefore our established organizations should support the integration and functions of the Assyrian Chaldean Syriac Student Movement free of divisive politics and full of unity and enthusiasm. This will include the collaboration and consolidation of similar Assyrian Chaldean Syriac student and youth unions across the country through our official national organization ChaldoAssyrian Student and Youth Council of America — the sister union of Khoyada d’Yalope of Iraq.
